Turning a market-based bakery into an online store.
Specialty Bakery was operating through farmers' markets and social messages without an online shop. Customers could not browse the range, place orders at any time or easily see where the business would be next. The project needed to solve commerce, convenience and brand identity together.
Sell beyond the market table
Create an always-on ordering channel while keeping local pickup, delivery and market activity practical for a small business.
Shopify developer
I handled the Shopify implementation, theme customization and custom storefront functionality for the project.
The storefront was designed around how the business actually sells.
Built a responsive storefront with Liquid, HTML, CSS and JavaScript, shaped around the brand's playful identity.
Implemented a build-your-own box experience for multiple box sizes so customers could combine preferred flavors.
Configured local delivery zones and pickup options so the online store matched the client's real service area.
Created a dedicated area for upcoming markets, dates, times and map references to connect online discovery with offline events.
The visual direction was applied consistently across the storefront so the digital experience felt like the same business customers knew in person.
Orders moved into Shopify, with inventory updates and confirmation messages replacing fragmented manual handling.
The launch created a stronger digital foundation.
A new online sales channel
The store gave customers a way to discover products and place orders without waiting for a market appearance or social-media response.
More ways for customers to find the business
Direct, search and social discovery now work together around the same storefront.
A richer product experience
The storefront gives customers more context around products, market updates and the brand before they decide to buy.
Shopify + Liquid + JavaScript
The build used Shopify as the commerce platform with custom theme work and a bundle solution for the product-box experience.
The practical lesson.
For a small eCommerce business, the best storefront is not the one with the most features. It is the one that fits the real operating model. In this project, the important work was connecting product discovery, bundling, fulfilment, market updates and ordering into one flow that the client could actually maintain.
