Agile is a family of approaches built around short feedback loops, incremental delivery and the ability to respond to learning. The Agile Manifesto places stronger emphasis on people, working software, customer collaboration and responding to change.

Agile is not an excuse for chaos
A team can be agile and still have clear goals, acceptance criteria, quality standards, architecture decisions, documentation and governance. The difference is that these are designed around the context rather than treated as paperwork for its own sake.
