Agile creates a measurement loop
Useful metrics help a team understand flow, quality, predictability and outcomes. The metric should answer a question; collecting numbers without a decision attached creates dashboard noise.

Useful delivery metrics
- Lead time
- Cycle time
- Work in progress
- Throughput
- Defect trends
- Release frequency
- Outcome or product metrics
Retrospectives
A good retrospective moves beyond “what went well?” It identifies patterns, explains why they happened, and chooses one or two experiments for the next cycle.
Do not weaponize metrics
If teams are measured only on velocity, they can optimize the number instead of the outcome. Metrics should help people improve the system, not encourage gaming.
